Hungarian, known as one of the most difficult languages worldwide, is quite unique in that it does not belong to the Indo-European language family alongside three other European languages. The online courses provided by St Petersburg University aim to equip students with basic grammar knowledge, essential vocabulary, and crucial communication skills in Hungarian.

The cycle consists of two parts. The first part focuses on introducing students to the Hungarian alphabet, phonetics, pronouns, and basic verbs. The second part of the course concentrates on discussing topics such as place, time, and direction. By completing this cycle, students will be able to achieve the A1 level of Hungarian language proficiency.
The courses include videos regarding the culture of Hungary and animated dialogues that narrate the story of Masha, a violinist who travels to Budapest. Together, students will explore the landmarks of the city, delve into the culture, discuss Hungarian art, and most importantly, memorise useful words and phrases, and develop listening skills to understand spoken Hungarian.
Upon finishing the course, students will be able to express simple thoughts in Hungarian, gain insights into Hungarian life, grasp basic grammar rules and vocabulary, and confidently understand everyday conversations in Hungarian.
