He was accompanied by Vice-Rector for International Affairs Timirkhan Alishev.

The Vice-Rector spoke about the University’s current priorities and strategy and its cooperation with partners in Kyrgyzstan. Currently, KFU hosts 68 Kyrgyzstani students.

Mr Bukalaev then met with Kyrgyzstani nationals – participants of KFU’s Summer University project. He said, “Tatarstan is very close to us in its spirit and traditions. My visit here has to do with the Kyrgyz Republic’s Consulate General opening in Kazan.”

Dr Alishev invited the young people to enroll in KFU’s master’s programs. As for the cooperation matter, he commented, “Cooperation between Tatarstan and Kyrgyzstan grows rapidly. Kazan University has long had partner links with many Kyrgyzstani universities. Among the 300 participants of the Summer University, 30 are from your country.”

The Vice-Rector opined that the establishment of the consulate will help further expand ties and the number of students from Kyrgyzstan. Among other things, this will be stimulated by an increase in Russian governmental scholarship quotas for Kyrgyzstanis.
