The cup was held in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, on 22-23 August. Renas Zaynutdinov represented team Russia at the event.
“I partook at the competition. I had to have stitches on my head after the very first bout, but I managed to prevail over my Turkmenistani opponent – 2:0. The second bout ended 1:0. In the final, I met with two-time Uzbekistani champion and two-time world cup winner Oibek Saliev. After the score reached 7:0, I was awarded an early victory.”
Renas Zaynutdinov has been in sambo since the age of 10. Before that, he engaged in swimming, gymnastics, and football, but they didn’t quite grasp his attention. Before the world cup pedestal, he was twice student champion of Russia. He is the first representative of Tatarstan to win the Sambo World Cup.
After the successful tournament, he has already moved to Yekaterinburg, Russia, to partake in International Student Sports Festival, which this year has attracted young people from 36 nations. KFU is sizably represented at the event with 13 athletes.
